Tara tara the hen,
with her fine little cluck,
crest of a rooster,
tail of a horse.
Here we come,
a little boy we brought.
I give you a little garlic,
may God give you a little boy.
I give you a little onion,
may God give you a little girl.
We give and we give,
so that each year be better.

A singsong performed by the Sephardic children in Turkey on the last day of Pesah: in the afternoon, with baskets filled with green grass in their hands, they used to visit their relatives and those put eggs into these baskets. As they say: "Esto era un 'bereket', venir a echar hierbas, para la añada vedre que sea todo, que sea alegrías." ("It was a blessing with the green grass so that there will be a green year of joy.")
