The romance about The Deceived Woman (La mujer engañada) is formulated like a lullaby. The protagonist, in the first person, tells about the betrayal of her adulterous husband, recounting how she followed him and discovers him, eating and drinking with his beloved. It ends with the betrayed woman’s confrontation when he comes back home asking to be let in, allegedly after a hard day's work.

Translation:
-  Lullaby to you, my soul, and lullaby to you, my life,
your father went where the new (lady) friend is, (his) new love
I entered further inside to see what there was:
I saw an open table with rich foods, (his) new love.
I entered further inside to see what there was:
I saw a made bed with rich curtains, (his) new love.
And (she) not more elegant and not more graceful
her whitened face with her tinted eyebrow, (his) new love.

that your father went where the new friend is, (his) new love.
-  Open (the door) for me, my soul, open for me, my life,
that I come tired from going around the towns, (his) new love.
-  You do not come tired from going around the towns
you come tired from where the new (lady) friend is, (his) new love.

your father comes from where the new (lady) friend is, (his) new love.
