This rhyme is spoken by the parent to the young child, stressing the importance of learning. The text develops as a dialogue between an adult and the child going to his studies at the hevra - the place of learning together , with bread and cheese and carrying his book .  And then blessings for him, for his mother and father, and for the midwife that attended his birth.
