De principio de mis males   naviguí con la fortuna,
caí en civdades ajenas,   lugares que non conocía,
con relámpago y trueno,  y la navė de en peña en peña.
- Si yo pequí, Señor del Mundo,   la mi navė ¿qué lo culpa?
Si la mi navė pecó,   el capitano ¿qué lo culpa?
Si el capitano pecó,   los mis bienės ¿qué lo culpan?
Si mis bienes pecaron,   los de la ĝente ¿qué lo culpan?
Lo mío se vaiga al fondo,   y lo de la ĝente, escapa.
- Ésto qué sintieron las nubes,   partieron para otras partes,
y bendicho sea tal Padré   qué tanta maravilla mos hacė:
que escapas a las parideras   y a las navés de las marés.

Translation:
From the beginning of my troubles I sailed with fortune,
I fell into foreign cities, places that I did not know,
with lightning and thunder, and the ship from rock to rock.
-  If I have sinned, Lord of the World, what fault has my ship?
If my ship has sinned, what fault has the captain?
If the captain has sinned, what fault have my possessions?
If my possessions have sinned, what fault have those of the people?
Let what is mine sink to the bottom, and what belongs to others, escape.
- When the clouds heard this, they departed to other places,
and blessed be such a Father who performs so many wonders:
who saves those giving birth and the ships of the seas.
