Translation

- Well, long live the mother-in-law!
What did you give your daughter?
Nothing you gave your daughter.
- I gave her seven long pants,
one for each evening

- Well, long live...
- I gave her seven shirts,
one for each day.

- Well, long live...
- I already gave her a pearl necklace,
to enjoy with her mother-in-law.
- Well, long live...
- I already gave her burnt coffee beans,
so she can spend time with her sisters-in-law.

- Well, long live...
what did she give to her son
she gave nothing to her son

- Well, long live the mother-in-law! What did you give your son? Nothing you gave your son.
- I already gave her a young man
without a beard or mustache.

A debate between the two mothers in law, the groom's mother is criticizing the dowry prepared for the bride: "What did you give your daughter? Nothing, you didn't give your daughter anything." The bride's mother replies:  "I gave her seven shirts, one for each day." etc. At the end of the song the accusation is reversed, the mother of the bride asks the mother of the groom: What did you give your son (meaning, what has he contributed to the match) to which the grooms mother answers: I gave her (the bride) a young man (with no beard or mustache), implying that he is the actual prize for the bride, and nothing more needs to be given.
