It is a cumulative song which is performed at length, thus complying with the rabbinical precept of extending the Passover meal as long as possible in order to recount the exodus from Egypt by the hand and work of God. It is similar in content to Echad mi yodea from the Hagada. Several of the many versions of this song begin with a linguistic deformation (Qu)en supiense y 'ntendiense alabar al Dio quierense: “whoever knew and understood, would praise God” (verbs in the subjunctive tense, not used in everyday Sephardic speech). This song has versions from both the Ottoman area and the area of North Morocco and Gibraltar.
