Our Lord, our Elokenu, sent for Moshe Rabenu, to give us our holy Torah, which begins with Anojí. Moses ascended to the heavens, without food and without water; he brought us the two Tablets, that begin with Anojí. On Mount Sinai He made shine, with fire and the sound of shofar; He made all Israel tremble, when God said Anojí. He gave us the Ten Commandments, with His songs and His secrets; there were all the souls present, when God said: Anojí. Our Law is most precious, set apart from all the nations; beloved by Israel, and by Him who said: Anojí. We committed a great error, stronger than iron itself: we served a wicked calf, against Him who said: Anojí. Please God save us, forgive our sins, please forgive, may Elijah bring the tidings, of Him who said: Anojí. It is right that we serve Him, and fulfill His commandments, for we shall give account to Him who said: Anojí. We shall rebuild the Temple, and light the Menorah; we’ll bring the offerings near before Him who said: Anojí. We shall raise the altar, burn the incense of fragrance, the High Priest we shall have for Him who said: Anojí. Good tidings we await— send us the son of David! To Jerusalem we shall ascend, near to Him who said: Anojí. The tithes we shall set apart, the High Priest we shall have, our first fruits we shall bring up to Him who said: Anojí. The dead shall rise again, all shall rejoice together; the whole world shall believe in Him who said: Anojí. Our reward we shall receive, the face of the Messiah we’ll see, we’ll rejoice in His Glory, with Him who said: Anojí. Now we go to lie down, and in the morning rise early, to serve and to praise Him who said: Anojí.

This copla celebrates the giving of the Torah, drawing on Talmudic commentaries and legends, and interweaving numerous Hebrew expressions. It is composed in quatrains with a zejel rhyme scheme, typical of para-liturgical poetry, wherein the first three lines of each stanza share one rhyme, and the fourth line unites all stanzas through a common refrain, ending with Anojí (the first word of the Ten Commandments).
