Oh, ya viene el parido

This is the most well known Coplas de Parida, as is evident in it's numerous versions. It was published in Constantinopol in 1926 by Binyamin ben Yosef, in his El buquieto de romanzas. This fragmentary version has two strophes and a refrain. The father of the newborn comes and brings fish in one hand and a string of ducats (coins) in the other hand.  Wine for everyone! Long live the newborn's father and also the baby's mother that gave birth to this son. I have given birth to a son with his face like flowers, and let us always give praise!

Oh, ya viene el parido con los convidados,
Oh, ya traie en su mano resta de piscados,
y en la otra mano resta de ducados.

 Vino florido,
 con todos bien cumplido,
 mos viva 'l parido.
 y a tambien la parida,
 que mos parió este hijo.

O, yo parí un hijo de cara de flores,
y siempre demos loores y alabaciones.
 Vino florido...

Translation:
Oh, here comes the father with all the guests,
He brings in one hand a string of fish,
And in the other, a string of gold coins.

Flowery wine,
shared with all in good measure,
long live the father,
and also the mother,
who bore us this child.

Oh, I gave birth to a child with a face like flowers,
and may we always give praises and blessings.
